A Fresh Start

We hope everyone is enjoying the first few weeks of 2022! The CVPNS community is looking forward to a new year filled with enriching opportunities, parent education, and creating memories at our cooperative, play-based school. To help set the year off on the right foot, here are a few ways that we’re creating a fresh start:

  • Clothing & Toy Donation Drive: To help make sure that clothes and books that still have a lot of fun left in them don’t end up in the landfill, we are partnering with Savers in Dublin to donate clothes and toys. We’ve found that January is a great time to make sweeps through the house to find donations, and a good reminder that community and nonprofit organizations always need assistance – not just around the holidays.
  • Community Service Project: As a way to thank those that help keep our households running, we’re writing letters to our neighborhood mail carriers and creating “thank you” gift baskets for our front porches for delivery drivers.
  • Planting a Garden: At CVPNS, we have a community garden that the students help maintain. For the upcoming spring season, we’re reserving spots for experiments! Students will bring seeds from home to plant at school, and we’ll all await to see the results in a few months. Now is also a great time to start a garden at home. Planter boxes are a great way to start small, especially if you only have  a deck or patio not conducive to the full gardening experience.
  • Find a New Park: With all of the (much needed!) rain, there have been a lot of days indoors this winter. Now that we’re getting at least a few breaks between storms, now is the perfect time to find a new park to try out. Here’s one resource for finding the perfect place to play
  • Find a New Hike: And while we’re at it, why not find your new favorite family hiking spot? The East Bay Regional Park District has a wonderful site dedicated to finding just the right adventure, including short trial loops perfect for parents with small children.

We’re excited for all that 2022 has in store, and look forward to watching our preschool, our community, and our children grow. We hope your new year is off to a wonderful start as well!
