As the holiday season approaches, CVPNS is gearing up for a range of festive events and activities. From visits from Santa to clothing donation fundraisers, there are plenty of ways the CVPNS community is getting into the holiday spirit and providing fun and engaging experiences for students and their families.
For example, the students learn about the many winter holidays and traditions from around the world. One of the popular circle time songs in “current rotation” celebrates different winter holidays around a unifying theme of light. For those that celebrate, a visit from Santa Claus is always a magical and exciting experience. The students can meet Santa, share their holiday wishes, and maybe even receive a special gift!
Another popular holiday event at CVPNS is our upcoming clothing donation fundraiser. This is a great way for families to help clear out their closets (and to help make room for new clothes). We are collecting gently used clothing and textiles, as well as books and stuffed animals, which will be donated to Savers. All of the proceeds raised during the fundraiser are returned directly to CVPNS to help run the school. This can be a great way for students to learn about the importance of giving and helping others, and can also provide an opportunity for families to clean out their closets and make room for new items.
In addition to clothing donation fundraisers, CVPNS also participates in a program through Castro Valley Outreach where we adopt a local family. We received a list of items the family was interested in and were able to donate all of the items they were looking for! It was a great way for CVPNS to make a difference in the lives of others and provides students with a valuable lesson about the importance of giving and caring for others.
Finally, CVPNS incorporates holiday-themed art projects into its curriculum during the holiday season. This is a great way for children to express their creativity and learn about the traditions and symbols of the holidays (and make some excellent, last-minute gifts for family and friends!) One of the amazing aspects of CVPNS is the creativity of the workday parents that bring new ideas, new projects, and lots of ingenuity to the school each day!
As you can see, the holiday season provides a great opportunity for CVPNS to engage children and families in fun and festive events and activities. We hope you have a wonderful holiday season, and we’ll see you next year!
